Cooler in Cotton

As a lover of fashion, picking out an outfit is an enjoyable process for me. It's about tones & colors, and shapes & sizes, and prints & designs, and on and on...aesthetics right? Well, as much as I'm into the look of the clothes, lately, I've been all about the make up of the clothes. The fabrics, the textures, and of course, the feel. And since I've got to beat the summer heat, cotton tops my list all the way. That's why im so excited to be a part of Cotton's summer campaign #CoolerInCotton.

A lot of us probably don't pay much attention to what makes up our clothes when we're shopping and just go straight to the size on the tag, but trust me, the ingredients matter! It's difficult to tell the fiber content these days just by touching clothes since mystery fabrics often substitute for cotton. And often, these fabrics are not up to quality like cotton, so you'd end up buying it, and after a couple of wears, it's falling apart or stretching, etc. We've all had that happen, no?  Don't be misled, check the label, guys!

Other reasons why I look for cotton-rich clothes:
1. Breathable/comfy, it doesn't retain odor, and it's lightweight. Basically, perfect for summer and all this Florida heat and humidity I deal with.
2. Durability/ quality. I don't have to worry about it falling apart after each wash.
3. Versatility/stylish. Don't think just jeans and a plain t shirt when it comes to cotton-rich garments. It's already in all your favorite classics and current trends. For today's cotton-based look, I'm going boho chic in this little mustard number with cognac-toned tie up sandals to complement the dress.

Just a small tip for when you shop for cotton: blends are perfectly okay but to ensure the benefits on cotton come through, look for 60% cotton or higher for all apparel, and 90% or higher for denim. Don't forget to read the label! :)
